The Yellow Tabija is one of the most recognizable places in Sarajevo. The yellow tabija, which is located on the Jekovac cliff, which is why it is also known as the Jekovačka tabija, is one of the fortifications that formed a defensive rampart around the old town of Vratnik. The yellow tabia stands out for its exceptional architecture and spectacular view of the city. From the top of the tabija, there is a breathtaking panoramic view of Sarajevo.

You can observe the red roofs of old houses, elegant buildings. The view is especially impressive during the sunset period, when the colors of the sky mix with the colors of the city, creating a picture of unreal beauty. In addition to the impressive view, after the invasion of Eugene of Savoy in 1697, it turned out that the small fortress, which was located on the site of today's Bijela Tabija, was not sufficient for the defense of the city, so the Bosnian governor Gazi Ahmed Pasha Rustempašić Skopljak started building the ramparts in 1729. around Vratnik.

At the ends of the defensive wall, 5 bastions were built, one of which is the Yellow Tabia, which got its name from the yellow stone from which it was built. After the Austro-Hungarian conquest of Sarajevo, the fort lost its function. Today, Žuta tabija is a place from which a fascinating view of Sarajevo can be seen and is one of Sarajevo's favorite viewpoints. It is also the place from which a cannon is fired during the Muslim month of Ramadan, which marks the time of sunset and the breaking of the day-long fast.

Over time, tabia has witnessed many historical events and changes. Today it is a popular tourist attraction that attracts visitors from all over the world. The approach to Yellow Tabija is relatively simple. You can climb it on foot or by car, and the trails are well marked.

During the ascent, you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of nature and the peace that reigns on the hill. The path to the top of the tabia can be a little challenging, but every step is worth it for the spectacular view that awaits you. The yellow tabia is open to visitors throughout the year. Entrance is free, which is great news for all culture and history lovers.

You can explore the fort, walk the walls and soak up the energy of the past. During the summer, you can enjoy your favorite drink at the Yellow Tabija, and not far from the Yellow Tabija is Kamarija Cafe, a well-known cafe in Sarajevo.
