Bijela tabija is a fortress on the road Dariva - Mošćanica, on the eastern elevation of the Sarajevo basin. It was built on the site of a medieval fortress, built around 1550. The upper part of Tabija in large stone blocks was created in the Austro-Hungarian period. The fortress was of great importance for the defense of the city during the attack of the Austrian prince Eugene of Savoy in the 17th century, and the Austro-Hungarian army in 1878.

The successful reconstruction of the appearance of the medieval fortress at the site of Bijela tabija was done by Alija Bejtić, based on data provided by sources from the 17th century. An excellent connoisseur of the history of šeher and its symbols, architect Mufid Garibija said that the fact that it was the first location where, after the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, the UN forces formed their military fortification and raised their flags speaks volumes about the importance of Bijela Tabija.
